Two koi pass each other going opposite ways, one gold and one deep pink, their fins trailing into white. Michele splits the ground down the middle, blue-lilac water on one side and near black on the other, then scatters both halves with small dabs of colour that sit on the surface like fallen petals. The fish are painted broadly and confidently, the scales suggested rather than drawn.
