A portrait with copper hair swept up into spikes, pale skin, heavy blue shadow around the eyes and a black collar rising to the jaw. Artur paints the hair in long dry strokes that keep their colours separate, orange over gold over black, against a plain grey ground that lets it burn. The face by comparison is smooth and cool. Unmistakably of the early eighties, and painted with some affection for it.
