A single stone arch carries an old road over still water, its curve completed by the reflection below. Behind it sit a cream farmhouse with a terracotta roof and a stand of dark poplars, with blue hills flattening out into the distance. Artur works the greens of the bank in thick upright strokes that catch the light, then lays the water down almost smooth. The brick and lime of the bridge are painted repair by repair, patched and re-patched.
