A deep blue Portuguese front door set into a whitewashed wall, with a small four-pane window of painted birds at head height and a heavy iron knocker below. The number 9 is brushed onto a tile beside the frame. Artur builds the door from recycled wood so the panels and the step stand proud of the surface, and scrubs the surrounding wall back until the grain shows through.
