An old man in a soft leather hat draws on a pipe, one hand cupped around the bowl, his white beard filling the lower half of the picture against a black ground. Artur paints the beard almost hair by hair and lets everything else stay dark, so the face and the hand are the only lit things in it. Supplied in a pale woven-texture frame.
