Standing Tall

A gull stands on a rope-bound mooring post with the sea running out behind it, painted in clean blues and whites with the surf broken into loose dry strokes. The bird is the only still thing in the picture. A small boat sits far out on the horizon. The post itself is scuffed and weathered, with flecks of ochre and grey worked into the white where the paint has come away.
