More about these works
African Elephant is the one to look at first. A bull comes forward out of a wall of dust, ears wide, painted entirely in sepia and soft black, the hide built from a dense web of cracks and creases before the animal dissolves into cloud at the edges. It runs to 60 by 80cm.
Best Friends rests a child and a cat's chins on the same stone ledge at almost exactly the same height, which is the whole point of the picture. Politics is a donkey in a blue suit with a carrot where the boutonniere should be, painted with the care Artur would give a portrait, which is why it lands.
Michele Rama's Colorful koi has two fish passing each other going opposite ways, one gold and one deep pink, over a ground split down the middle.
